"It’s the best thing since Babe Ruth!"
| Vernon Wagnor, 56 years old, married four times, father of 11 children, and a diabetic for about 20 years tells about how he felt when switching from a syringe to a pen. |
Using FlexPen® is much easier than using the syringe. It's great. I can just carry it around in my pocket and take a shot when I need it. If I forget my glasses, I can count the clicks to know how many units I'm taking. Everything about the FlexPen® is great. It's convenient. You can't tell it's a pen or a needle. It looks like a pen in your pocket. It's the best thing since, you know, Babe Ruth.
The design of it just lets me unbutton my shirt and give myself a shot, and it's over with before anybody knows it. I'm not holding up a bottle, holding up a syringe. It's convenient. You don't have to draw anything out of a vial. You just dial up what you want, pull the cap off, screw a needle on, and it's done. The design of the FlexPen® definitely makes me feel more comfortable about handling my diabetes.

"It helps me keep more control"
| Karola Brendel, 60 years old, has been diabetic for 6.5 years and started injecting herself 2 years ago. |
Upon being diagnosed with diabetes, I became fearful of how the condition would affect my life. I knew about diabetes through my parents, having watched my mother routinely fill up a syringe and inject insulin.
I am thankful that due to insulin and device innovation, insulin injection is a much easier process for me than it was for my mother. Despite limited mobility due to a spinal column injury, I have been injecting insulin for two years.
The FlexPen® reinforced my faith in the continuing improvement of diabetes treatments and delivery systems. The pen is easy to use. I set the dose and inject. I don't have to fumble for ages to get the whole thing to work. The FlexPen® helps me keep more control, because I measure first and then inject exactly what I need. I find it very practical.
