Green accounts from production sites

To account for environmental impacts and activities at community level, green accounts are issued for five of Novo Nordisk’s largest production sites in Denmark. Such reporting is required by law. Data for all sites can be found in the interactive charts.

The reports are published in Danish and submitted to the Danish Commerce and Companies Agency following the publication of Novo Nordisk’s Annual Report.

The green accounts have not been assessed by PricewaterhouseCoopers. The data included in the green accounts can also be found in the interactive charts, which is an integrated part of the information presented in the ‘Values in action’ section and has therefore been assessed by PricewaterhouseCoopers. See the Assurance Report on Non-Financial Reporting 2007 for a full description of the nature of assurance offered. In its assessment, PricewaterhouseCoopers has checked that the reporting (the Annual Report and the supplementary information available in the ‘Values in action’ section) contains the required information and indicators.

Accounting for performance

The green accounts include a description of the sites’ performance concerning the significant environmental aspects and related impacts for 2007 such as:

  • consumption of water, energy and materials
  • waste water, waste, by-products, air emissions and noise
  • global warming, ozone layer depletion, acidification and eutrophication.
